Meet the Board! ('09-'10)

Sarah Rovin, President

Hi USYers! I am Sarah, a senior this year, and your President for 2009-10. I want to make this year most excellent! I love making new friends and I hope to see you at our next event.

Nadav David, Executive Vice President

Hey. I am Nadav David and I’m your new PAUSY executive Vice President. I’m a sophomore at Kehillah Jewish High School and I enjoyed being the Freshman Representative last year and wanted to take on a leadership role on board. I love sports, playing and watching, especially basketball. I’m also a major fan of music especially rap. I hope I can make this year awesome for our chapter and will see you at the next event!

Sam Stein, Membership/Kadima VP

Hello fellow PAUSYniks! My name is Sam Stein and I am you Membership/Kadima Vice President. In my spare time I enjoy singing, swimming, curling, and pasteling. This year I hope to hook all of you and reel you into this wonderful USY community. I am going to give 110% of my effort to make sure this is a successful fun year and all I can ask for in return is that all of you make my Membership job easy and show up at events. You will not regret it!

Nathan Dinitz, Religion/Education VP

Hi, I, Nathan Dinitz, am the Palo Alto USY chapter Religion & Education VP (Rel/Ed), I also am on the New Frontier Regional General Board for Religion & Educations as well as the new Webmaster for the New Frontier Region. As Religion & Education VP for PAUSY, I coordinate all chapter education and religious activities. These include organizing and usually leading the teen High Holy Day services and programs and making sure that there is some Jewish content or connection to all chapter events.

As for the rest of my life, I am a Junior at Gunn High School, and am the president of the Jewish Student Union (Jew club) at Gunn. I am involved and interested in video broadcast, a class at Gunn as well as digital photography. I  love Jewish learning, so I study Gemara weekly with Rabbi Booth and other teens, I also go to Latte 'n Learning, organized originally by Shmuel Braun, now coordinated by Rabbi Avi Stewart of the Jewish Study Network as a part of the local "Jewish Teen Community", and I try my best to attend all New Frontier regional conventions, as well as chapter events.

Yael Palmon, Social Action/Tikkun Olam VP

Hi guys! My name is Yael Palmon and I’m Social Action/Tikkun Olam Vice Presedent. I ran for SA/TO because I am very passionate about charity, and think that it is very important to apply it to Jewish Ideals and use it to better our world. I am a sophomore at Paly High School, and my favorite things include art, alternative music, and my friends. I hope to see all of you guys at the events this year. I promise they’ll be amazing!

Asaf Rotman, Israel Affairs/Regalia VP

What’s sup fellow USY’ers. I am Asaf Rotman your Israel Affairs/Regalia VP for the 09/10 year! I am a sophomore attending Gunn HS and I choose to my position due to my passion for Israel, and interest in clothing. This year I hope to lead many great Israel programs and make some sweet T-shirts and other such apparel! Let’s make this a fantastic year of USY.

Micah Brown, Communications VP

Hey there! I'm Micah Brown, your Communications VP! My job on board is to make/maintain this website, send out emails to PAUSY, take notes at meetings, and make fliers. You're probably thinking, "Wow! He has so much to do. How does he manage to do all that?". Luckily, I have experience doing it all as I was Communications VP last year as well! Besides USY, I work as a Madrich at Kol Emeth. In my spare time, I play Soccer, Wrestling, Track and Field, Basketball, and my xbox360. Also, I coach an AYSO soccer team. I like watching all sports, and my favorite teams are the San Francisco Giants, the Boston Celtics, and the New England Patriots. If you have any questions about PAUSY or an upcoming event, feel free to email me at pausy.comm@gmail.com OR just fill out the form on the "contact us" part of the website. I hope you enjoy this website--feel free to comment on it and give suggestions for improvement.

David Van-Gelder, Co-Freshman Rep

Heeello. I am David Van Gelder and this year I am Co-Freshman Representative. This is my first year in USY and I intend to make it a great one. I go to Gunn High School along with some of the other board members. Some of my hobbies are reading, hanging out, and playing video games.

Alex Geiger, Co-Freshman Representative

Hey there fellow PAUSY members my name is Alexandra Geiger and I am your Co-Freshman Rep. I’m 14 years old and I am going to Homestead High School. A few things about me that you might want to know is that I am on the JV/V Palo Alto Crew team, I love acting, and I dance. I wanted to be Freshman Rep because I wanted to bring something about me in our community. I’m glad I’m on the board and hopefully you will too.

Magali Cohen, Advisor

Magali Cohen has lived much of her life in West Unincorporated Menlo Park, CA with her zany and amazing family of four (and her small army of pets). In 2002, she took a year-long pilgrimage to Israel, where she was able to experience the beginning of the Iraq War and work in a chicken coop. After her egg-overload, she ventured to NYU and got two degrees in Journalism and Mass Communications. She now freelances as a media maven for the Bay Area Jewish community at large and is a youth adviser for Palo Alto USY."
